Roles & responsibilities
- Translate vehicle concept goals into preliminary engineering requirements and technical feasibility studies.
- Develop parametric 3D automotive component and assembly models using SOLIDWORKS.
- Create preliminary chassis/frame concepts, mounting structures and mechanical layouts.
- Prepare vehicle packaging studies covering occupants, engine, gearbox and major subsystems.
- Develop petrol-engine and transmission installation concepts, considering cooling, exhaust and service clearances.
- Design suspension-related components, brackets, interfaces and mounting arrangements.
- Perform preliminary load, strength, stiffness and material-selection calculations.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings, GD&T specifications and engineering documentation.
- Assess component weight, manufacturability, assembly methods and serviceability.
- Conduct suitable preliminary CAD-based checks and coordinate specialist FEA, CFD and vehicle-dynamics work.
- Support prototype fabrication, assembly planning, supplier communication and design changes.
- Evaluate materials, fabrication, CNC machining, sheet-metal and welding processes.
- Support design reviews, prototype measurement and engineering test documentation.
- Maintain engineering bills of materials, revision history and controlled CAD files.
- Research automotive technologies, vehicle architectures and relevant Indian regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external powertrain, safety, homologation and manufacturing specialists as projects develop.
Required skills & competencies
- Strong SOLIDWORKS part, assembly, drawing and parametric-modelling skills.
- Automotive chassis, mechanical systems, suspension and vehicle-packaging fundamentals.
- Understanding of petrol powertrain installation, cooling, exhaust and integration constraints.
- Engineering materials, GD&T, DFMA and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to prepare design calculations, bills of materials and technical documentation.
- Practical engineering judgement and cross-functional coordination skills.
Preferred qualifications & experience
- Experience in an automotive OEM, Tier-1 supplier or vehicle engineering consultancy.
- CATIA or Siemens NX knowledge is an advantage, not mandatory.
- Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS Simulation, Ansys or equivalent FEA tools.
- Experience in prototype development, chassis/suspension design or vehicle integration.
- Awareness of CMVR, automotive testing and homologation workflows.
Engineering portfolio
Shortlisted candidates may be asked to present non-confidential CAD models, drawings, design calculations or prototype work showing their individual contributions. Do not submit proprietary work from a previous employer.
